Ecology and Evolution gives prompt and equal consideration to papers reporting theoretical, experimental, applied and descriptive work in terrestrial and aquatic environments. The journal will consider submissions across taxa in areas including but not limited to micro and macro ecological and evolutionary processes, characteristics of and interactions between individuals, populations, communities and the environment, physiological responses to environmental change, population genetics and phylogenetics, relatedness and kin selection, life histories, systematics and taxonomy, conservation genetics, extinction, speciation, adaption, behaviour, biodiversity, species abundance, macroecology, population and ecosystem dynamics, and conservation policy. Ecology and Evolution features original research articles, reviews, editorials, and hypotheses. Original research papers must report well-conducted research with conclusions supported by the data presented in the paper. Ecology and Evolution publishes papers submitted directly to the journal and those referred from a select group of prestigious journals published by Wiley-Blackwell. List available here. Due to the importance of this topic to society and economic development the journal will give priority to quality research papers that are accessible to a broad readership and discuss sustainable, state-of-the art approaches to shaping the future of energy. This multidisciplinary journal will appeal to all researchers and professionals working in any area of energy in academia, industry or government, including scientists, engineers, consultants, policy-makers, government officials, economists and corporate organisations.
Environmental DNA is a fully double-blinded peer reviewed open access journal. The journal publishes papers that pertain to the analyses of environmental DNA (eDNA) (including ancient DNA, non-invasive sampling, diet analyses, metabarcoding, metagenomics, microbial ecology and pathogens) and address questions of both basic and applied relevance. Research areas (and non-exclusive examples of applications) of interest to Environmental DNA include but are not limited to:
The journal is identical in scope to Environmental Microbiology, shares the same editorial team and submission site, and will apply the same high level acceptance criteria. The two journals will be mutually supportive and evolve side-by-side. Environmental Microbiology Reports provides a high profile vehicle for publication of the most innovative, original and rigorous research in the field. The scope of the Journal encompasses the diversity of current research on microbial processes in the environment, microbial communities and microbial interactions, including, but not limited to, the following:
Epilepsia Open publishes original research in all aspects of epilepsy, making it widely available through Open Access publication. Epilepsia Open is the new open access journal of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE). The primary aim of Epilepsia Open is to rapidly publish robust high quality results that provide insights in all aspects of epilepsy research. Specifically, Epilepsia Open will publish peer reviewed, high quality open access articles covering the entire breadth of basic, translational and clinical research in epilepsy. The spectrum of articles may include all disciplines of life and health sciences, such as public/global health science and societal impact studies. Epilepsia Openalso welcomes submissions of high quality research with confirmatory results, failure-to-confirm studies, and negative results or interesting study protocols for testing new treatments. Epilepsia Open will publish communications from the ILAE and its Chapters. A priority is also given to commentaries of issues and concepts that enhance the access and application of basic research findings for clinical scientists and health professionals, and promote a better understanding of clinical challenges for biomedical researchers. Epilepsia Open is creating a unique forum for the reputable and speedy open access publication of epilepsy research. We are committed to facilitating and invigorating a robust and successful pipeline for improved human health science in epilepsy.
The European Journal of Neurology covers all areas of clinical and basic research in neurology. Emphasis is placed on major diseases or large clinical and socio-economic importance (dementia, stroke, epilepsy, headache, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, and infectious diseases). The journal provides a forum for European activity in clinical neuroscience and medical practice and help strengthen the links between research workers and clinicians in Europe and other parts of the world. In addition to original papers, the journal publishes frequent review and update papers, letters to the editor, book reviews, reports and news. Important articles can be fast-tracked. The journal also publishes the official EFNS taskforce papers, and - in a new development - the journal now includes a CME (Continuing Medical Education) online feature (http://www.blackwellpublishing.com/products/journals/ene/mcqs/). View a list of the latest free articles available from European Journal of Sport Science The European Journal of Sport Science (EJSS) is the official journal of the European College of Sport Science and is published 6 times per year by Taylor & Francis. The editorial policy of the Journal pursues the multi-disciplinary aims of the College: to promote the highest standards of scientific study and scholarship in respect of the following fields: (a) natural sciences of sport; (b) social and behavioural sciences and humanities (c) sports medicine; and (d) sport itself. The Journal also aims to facilitate and enhance communication across all sub-disciplines of the sport sciences. The Journal publishes original research as well as review articles of topics of contemporary importance or interest. The College is not exclusively committed to any particular schools of thought or methods of research. For the purposes of the EJSS, 'sport' is defined inclusively to refer to all forms of human movement that aim to maintain or improve physical and mental well-being, create or improve social relationships, or obtain results in competition at all levels. Defined thus, the Journal publishes articles from across the disciplinary spectrum concerning inter alia the motivation, attitudes, values, responses, adaptations, performance and health-related aspects of persons engaged in sport. EJSS invites the submission of original research articles and reviews of the sport science literature from sport scientists and scholars throughout the world. The Journal follows a rigorous peer-review process for the submission of all articles. EJSS also publishes editorials, rapid communications, abstracts, and open forum discussions on significant issues in the sport sciences. The Journal is published in simultaneous print and electronic editions. Peer Review Statement All research articles in this journal have undergone rigorous peer review, based on initial editor screening and anonymized refereeing by two referees. All review papers in this journal have undergone editorial screening and peer review. Evolutionary Applications is a fully peer reviewed open access journal. It publishes papers that utilize concepts from evolutionary biology to address biological questions of health, social and economic relevance. Papers are expected to employ evolutionary concepts or methods to make contributions to areas such as (but not limited to): medicine, agriculture, forestry, exploitation and management (fisheries and wildlife), aquaculture, conservation biology, environmental sciences (including climate change and invasion biology), microbiology, and toxicology. All taxonomic groups are covered from microbes, fungi, plants and animals. In order to better serve the community, we also now strongly encourage submissions of papers making use of modern molecular and genetic methods (population and functional genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, epigenetics, quantitative genetics, association and linkage mapping) to address important questions in any of these disciplines and in an applied evolutionary framework. Theoretical, empirical, synthesis or perspective papers are welcome.
Evolutionary Applications is now part of the Wiley Open Access publishing program of fully open access journals published by Wiley. For further information visit the Wiley Open Access website.
Scope and subject areas Experimental Physiology publishes Research Papers which report the results of original research in most areas of physiology (follow link below for table). These are normally limited to 6,000 words including legends and references Papers should embrace the journal's orientation of translation and integration. Specifically, we are keen to receive manuscripts that deal with both physiological and pathophysiological questions that investigate gene/protein function using molecular, cellular and whole animal approaches. In addition pertinent methodological papers are encouraged as are manuscripts that use computational models to further our understanding of physiological processes.
