This journal is designed to reflect current developments and advances being made in the general field of cement-concrete composites technology and in the production, use, and performance of cement-basedconstruction materials. The word cement is interpreted in a wide sense, including not only Portland cement but also blended cements and other binding materials. In addition to novel aspects of conventional concrete materials, the journal covers a wide range of composite materials such as fiber-reinforced cement composites, polymer cement composites, polymer impregnated composites, ferrocement, and cement composites containing special aggregate inclusions or waste materials. Original papers dealing with microstructure (as it relates to engineering properties), material properties, testing and test methods, fracture mechanics, durability aspects, composite mechanics/technology, modelling, design, fabrication and practical applications of these materials form the major themes of the journal. Provided there is sufficient linkage to properties defined at the material scale, papers concerning the behavior of structural components and systems, in situ performance, and field studies will also be accepted for review, as well as those concerning the repair and maintenance, serviceability behavior, and sustainability of structures made with these materials.The journal has within the above context several specific objectives. It wants to foster a better understanding of construction materials, provide a forum for unusual and unconventional materials, encourage the development of low cost energy saving materials and bridge the gap between materials science, engineering performance, environmental effects, in situ behavior, design/service life and construction. It is the intention of the journal to also publish special issues devoted to topics of current or emerging interest. The journal aims to provide a unifying basis for collaboration between materials scientists, engineers, designers and fabricators.

The aim of Cement and Concrete Research is to publish the best research on cement, cement composites, concrete and other allied materials that incorporate cement. In doing so, the journal will present: the results of research on the properties and performance of cement and concrete; novel experimental techniques; the latest analytical and modelling methods; the examination and the diagnosis of real cement and concrete structures; and the potential for improved materials. The fields which the journal aims to cover are:• Processing: Cement manufacture, mixing and rheology, admixtures and hydration. While the majority of articles will be concerned with Portland cements, we encourage articles on other cement systems, such as calcium aluminate.• Structural and Microstructural Characterisation of the unhydrated components and of hydrated systems including: the chemistry, crystal structure, pore structure of cement and concrete, characterisation techniques, and structural and microstructural modelling.• The properties of cement and concrete, including: fundamental physical properties; transport, mechanical and other properties, the processes of degradation of cement and concrete; and the modelling of properties, both as a means of predicting short and long performance, and as a means of relating a material's structure to its properties.• Applications for cement and concrete, including: concrete technology, fibre reinforcement, waste management, and novel concretes.The journal's principal publications are original articles containing new information, major reviews and selected papers from important conferences. Discussion of published material and rapid communications will form part of the journal where appropriate. The journal will focus on papers with a broad interest, based upon their subject area, the quality of the research, the novelty of the results and the potential for assimilation of the findings.

Ceramics International primarily deals with the fundamental aspects of ceramic science and their application to the development of improved ceramic materials. The journal particularly encourages papers that show how ceramic science can be used to improve the quality, reliability and performance of ceramics through the development of advanced materials and manufacturing techniques. Fabrication processes which Ceramics International concentrates on include all the advanced techniques employed to produce ceramic components of improved quality, reliability and performance. Ceramics International is particularly concerned with powder and material processing. Chaos, Solitons & Fractals aims to be a leading journal in the interdisciplinary field of Nonlinear Science, and Nonequilibrium and Complex Phenomena. It encourages the submission of articles on the following subjects in this field: dynamics; non-equilibrium processes in physics, chemistry and geophysics; complex matter and networks; mathematical models; computational biology; applications to quantum and mesoscopic phenomena; fluctuations and random processes; self-organization; social phenomena.The journal can only accept papers whose primary subject area lies within the above Aims & Scope. In particular, please take notice of the following:• Papers of a more applied or engineering nature can be considered when they are closely connected to one of the subjects of the journal and contribute to a better understanding of that subject.• In order to be acceptable, manuscripts on integrable systems should at least attempt a connection to physical insight or new qualitative features. The word “Solitons” should be understood as a label especially extended to all nonlinear integrable systems in complex natural phenomena. The Chemical Engineering Journal focuses upon three aspects of chemical engineering: chemical reaction engineering, environmental chemical engineering, and materials synthesis and processing.The Chemical Engineering Journal is an international research journal and invites contributions of original and novel fundamental research. The journal aims to provide an international forum for the presentation of original fundamental research, interpretative reviews and discussion of new developments in chemical engineering. Papers in which knowledge from other disciplines is integrated with chemical engineering are especially welcome.Within the Chemical Engineering Journal, the Chemical Reaction Engineering section presents papers on a wide range of topics including reaction kinetics, applied catalysis, simulation and optimization of different types of reactors, unsteady-state reactors, multiphase reactors, and fundamental investigations of the processes of heat, mass and momentum transfer that take place along with chemical reaction. Research works addressing critical areas of reactor engineering (e.g. reactor materials, control strategies, reactor safety and environmental issues), and emerging reactor technologies (e.g. membrane reactors, chromatographic reactors, unconventional fluidized beds, electrochemical reactors, micro-reactors, etc.) are particularly welcome.Within the Chemical Engineering Journal, the Materials Synthesis and Processing section presents papers dealing with different aspects of the preparation and characterization of advanced materials. Novel physical and chemical methods of synthesis will be covered, as well as the processes used to obtain materials of different morphologies (particles, films, fibers), and to modify their surface and structural properties, always from a chemical engineering point of view. Chemical Engineering Science publishes papers on the fundamentals of chemical engineering, including the development of chemical engineering knowledge and process into and from other disciplines including biology, chemistry, physics, and applied mathematics. We welcome manuscripts describing original research, with significant results based on experiments and/or developments in theory. Such results may be the outcome of studies that range from the molecular level to the plant level. Increasingly, published research addresses and impacts global issues. Chemical Geology (including Isotope Geoscience) is an international journal that publishes original research papers on the isotopic and elemental geochemistry and geochronology of the Earth. The Journal is concerned with chemical processes in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary petrology, low- and high-temperature aqueous solutions, biogeochemistry and the environment.Papers that are field, experimentally, or computationally based are all appropriate providing they are of broad international interest. Criteria for publication in Chemical Physics are novelty, quality and general interest in experimental and theoretical chemical physics and physical chemistry. Articles are welcome that deal with problems of electronic and structural dynamics, reaction mechanisms, fundamental aspects of catalysis, solar energy conversion and chemical reactions in general, involving atoms, molecules, proteins, clusters, surfaces, interfaces and bulk matter. Reports on new methodologies and comprehensive assessments of existing ones, as well as applications to new types of problems are especially welcome. Experimental papers are expected to be brought into relation with theory, and theoretical papers should be connected to present or future experiments. Manuscripts that apply standard methods to specific physical-chemical problems and/or to specific systems are appropriate if they report novel results for an important problem of high interest and/or if they provide significant new insights.Manuscripts describing routine use or minor extensions or modifications of established and/or published experimental and theoretical methodologies are not appropriate for the journal. In addition, manuscripts describing analytical procedures that use established spectroscopic techniques, such as for sample characterization, will not be accepted for publication, even if they appear new or improved with respect to procedures previously used.In addition to regular research papers, Chemical Physics publishes invited perspectives articles (called ChemPhys Perspectives) and Special Thematic Issues. Each Chemical Physics Special Issue provides a snapshot of the leading edge in current research of a particular field in chemical physics, and contains invited articles by specialists in that field. The objective is to create a collection of articles representative of the newest findings in a field and equivalent to that covered at a topical conference.

Chemical Physics Letters publishes brief reports on molecules, interfaces, condensed phases, nanomaterials and nanostructures, polymers, biomolecular systems, and energy conversion and storage.Criteria for publication are quality, urgency and impact. Further, experimental results reported in the journal have direct relevance for theory, and theoretical developments or non-routine computations relate directly to experiment.
