The journal Der Zoologische Garten has been founded in 1859 (since 1929 published as as "new series").

Der Zoologische Garten ist eine wissenschaftliche Zeitschrift, die allen die Tiergärtnerei (im weitesten Sinne) betreffenden Originalarbeiten offensteht. Neben größeren Abhandlungen werden "Kleinere Mitteilungen", "Nachrichten aus Zoologischen Gärten" u. dgl. aufgenommen.

Desalination is the premier international journal dedicated to communicating the latest developments in desalination including theoretical and applied research, technological and industrial development, other osmotic processes and the experience of operators and users.Desalination welcomes submissions describing use of desalting technologies such as thermal, membrane, sorption and hybrid processes. In addition, the journal considers exceptional research on new desalination materials, processes and technologies; transport and process modeling; energy consumption, renewable energy and energy recovery; pre-treatment, post-treatment and integrated systems; causes, consequences, and countermeasures of fouling and scaling; and technical, economic, and regulatory analyses of full-scale plants.Desalination welcomes theoretical and experimental research as Full Text Papers, Short Communications, State-of-the-Art Reviews and Letters to Editors on all aspects of desalination described above. Prospective Review authors are requested to contact one of the Editors prior to submission. Short Communications should be concise and not exceed 4-6 printed pages but must include complete descriptions of any investigation of the research which must be cutting-edge and novel with knowledge that warrants speedy communication to the readership.

Design Studies is the only peer reviewed journal to approach the understanding of design processes from comparisons across all domains of application, including engineering and product design, architectural and urban design, computer artefacts and systems design. It therefore provides a unique forum for the analysis, development and discussion of fundamental aspects of design activity, from cognition and methodology to values and philosophy. Development Engineering (Dev Eng) is an open access, interdisciplinary journal applying engineering and economic research to the problems of poverty. Published studies must present novel research motivated by a specific global development problem. The journal serves as a bridge between engineers, economists, and other scientists involved in research on human, social, and economic development.

For all articles submitted before 31^st December 2015, there is a 80% discount off the open access publication fee. Authors pay USD 300, excluding taxes, for full length research and review articles and USD 200, excluding taxes, for short communication and commentary articles. Specific topics include:

• Engineering research in response to unique constraints imposed by poverty.
• Assessment of pro-poor technology solutions, including field performance, consumer adoption, and end-user impacts.

• Lessons from the field, especially null results from field trials and technical failure analyses.
• Rigorous analysis of existing development "solutions" through an engineering or economic lens.

Although the journal focuses on quantitative, scientific approaches, it is intended to be suitable for a wider audience of development practitioners and policy makers, with evidence that can be used to improve decision-making. It also will be useful for engineering and applied economics faculty who conduct research or teach in "technology for development."

The journal maintains high standards for publication, in terms of methodological rigor and contribution to the literature. It prioritizes novel, experimental work that directly integrates engineering research with statistically rigorous methods from the social sciences. The Editors will consider review articles that cover significant, emerging trends in engineering for global development. Published papers are expected to be applied in nature; however, they should generate fundamental knowledge that advances basic fields of science and engineering. Additionally, Dev Eng editors recognize that there is a lack of high-quality work from researchers in developing countries published in leading international journals. To encourage and facilitate submissions from authors in low to middle income countries, the journal will offer mentorship support to help authors overcome barriers such as language differences, writing skills and familiarity with the publishing process.

Developmental Biology publishes original research on mechanisms of development, differentiation, and growth in animals and plants at the molecular, cellular, genetic and evolutionary levels. Developmental Cell is a broad-spectrum journal that covers the fields of cell biology and developmental biology. The journal publishes theoretical and research papers on cognitive brain development, from infancy through childhood and adolescence and into adulthood.
