Applications in Plant Sciences (APPS) is a monthly, peer-reviewed, open access journal promoting the rapid dissemination of newly developed, innovative tools and protocols in all areas of the plant sciences, including genetics, structure, function, development, evolution, systematics, and ecology. Given the rapid progress today in technology and its application in the plant sciences, the goal of APPS is to foster communication within the plant science community to advance scientific research. APPS is a publication of the Botanical Society of America, originating in 2009 as the American Journal of Botany's online-only section, AJB Primer Notes & Protocols in the Plant Sciences.
This journal publishes relevant information on the behaviour of domesticated and utilized animals.Topics covered include:Behaviour of farm, zoo and laboratory animals in relation to animal management and welfareBehaviour of companion animals in relation to behavioural problems, for example, in relation to the training of dogs for different purposes, in relation to behavioural problemsStudies of the behaviour of wild animals when these studies are relevant from an applied perspective, for example in relation to wildlife management, pest management or nature conservationMethodological studies within relevant fieldsThe principal subjects are farm, companion and laboratory animals, including, of course, poultry. The journal also deals with the following animal subjects:Those involved in any farming system, e.g. deer, rabbits and fur-bearing animalsThose in ANY form of confinement, e.g. zoos, safari parks and other forms of displayFeral animals, and any animal species which impinge on farming operations, e.g. as causes of loss or damageSpecies used for hunting, recreation etc. may also be considered as acceptable subjects in some instancesLaboratory animals, if the material relates to their behavioural requirements
In continuous publication since 1985,
The journal Applied Entomology and Zoology publishes articles concerned with applied entomology, applied zoology, agricultural chemicals and pest control. Coverage spans a wide range of fields, including molecular biology, environmental science, physiology, ecology, ethology, taxonomy and toxicology. The journal examines insect pests, animal pests, natural enemies, beneficial insects, beneficial animals, agricultural chemicals and more. Founded in 1966, Applied Entomology and Zoology is an official English-language publication of the Japanese Society of Applied Entomology and Zoology.
Applied Geography is a journal devoted to the publication of research which utilizes geographic approaches (human, physical, nature-society and GIScience) to resolve human problems that have a spatial dimension. These problems may be related to the assessment, management and allocation of the world's physical and/or human resources. The underlying rationale of the journal is that only through a clear understanding of the relevant societal, physical, and coupled natural-humans systems can we resolve such problems.Papers are invited on any theme involving the application of geographical theory and methodology in the resolution of human problems. This may include papers on the techniques, problems and results of environmental and/or social research, as well as those concerned with the principles, policies and consequences of resource management and allocation. Articles are refereed before publication.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more. Applied Vegetation Science is administratively linked to the Journal of Vegetation Science. It accepts original papers (including shorter ones), reviews, forum contributions and reports. It commissions reviews of selected books. Applied fields covered by the journal include human impact on vegetation, particularly eutrophication and global change, nature conservation, nature management, restoration of plant communities and habitats of threatened plant species, and the planning of semi-natural and urban landscapes. In addition it publishes book reviews and notices of scientific meetings.
Applied and Environmental Microbiology® publishes study results that make significant contributions to applied microbial research, basic microbial ecology research, and genetic and molecular investigations of microbial topics of practical value. The journal sheds new light on key microbiological principles, fundamental microbial processes, and basic questions in applied and environmental microbiology.
Applied and Environmental Soil Science is a peer-reviewed open access journal in the field of soil science aimed at an international audience. Its coverage reflects the multidisciplinarity nature of soil science, and focuses on studies that take account of the dynamics and spatial heterogeneity of processes in soil. Basic studies of the physical, chemical, biochemical, and biological properties of soil, innovations in soil analysis, and the development of statistical tools will be published. Most papers will have a strong applied element. Papers will include experimental and field investigations, mathematical modelling, and occasional review articles.
Official journal of the Aquacultural Engineering Society (AES)Aquacultural Engineering is concerned with the design and development of effective aquacultural systems for marine and freshwater facilities. The journal aims to apply the knowledge gained from basic research which potentially can be translated into commercial operations.Problems of scale-up and application of research data involve many parameters, both physical and biological, making it difficult to anticipate the interaction between the unit processes and the cultured animals. Aquacultural Engineering aims to develop this bioengineering interface for aquaculture and welcomes contributions in the following areas:– Engineering and design of aquaculture facilities– Engineering-based research studies– Construction experience and techniques– In-service experience, commissioning, operation– Materials selection and their uses– Quantification of biological data and constraintsStyle of presentation is flexible, but those papers dealing with specific problems should attempt to define them clearly in terms of systems engineering, quantifying the constraints, proposing solutions, implementing and detailing the design, and finally evaluating the outcome.
Aquaculture is an international journal for the exploration, improvement and management of all freshwater and marine food resources. It publishes novel and innovative research of world-wide interest on farming of aquatic organisms, which includes finfish, mollusks, crustaceans and aquatic plants for human consumption. Research on ornamentals is not a focus of the Journal. Aquaculture only publishes papers with a clear relevance to improving aquaculture practices or a potential application.Benefits to authorsWe also provide many author benefits, such as free PDFs, a liberal copyright policy, special discounts on Elsevier publications and much more.
