Computer-Aided Design invites papers reporting new research, as well as novel or particularly significant applications, within a wide range of topics, spanning all stages of design process from concept creation to manufacture and beyond. Examples of relevant topics include but are not limited to:

Contributions are welcome from all disciplines, provided that they have a significant geometric, topological, spatial, or configuration design content, and present developments likely to be of interest to a broad spectrum of researchers, educators, and practitioners of computer-aided design.

Types of Papers:

Research papers: will report significant research and development results, describe the relevant theoretical foundations and the methodology, and present workable algorithms and give examples taken from real world applications, stressing the significance of the approach being presented.

Application papers: will describe complex and pioneering applications of CAD concepts, methods and tools in practice, present significant results that extend the disciplinary knowledge and/or analyze the application in a way that is likely to stimulate and influence further research.

Survey papers: will critically analyze the current state of knowledge in a given field of CAD, summarize and organize recent research results in a novel way, derive new insights and add understanding to working in the field, and propose possible topics, orientations and approaches for future research and development.

Technical notes: will respond to material published in the journal or closely related topics, repair a flaw in the definition and approach or stimulate further thinking, or provide additional technical details on a CAD theory, technology, methodology, product or application.

The purpose of the journal Computerized Medical Imaging and Graphics is to act as a source for the exchange of information concerning the medical use of new developments in imaging diagnosis, intervention, and follow up. Included in the journal will be articles on new medical scanning techniques, image-guided therapy, computer-aided diagnosis, robotic surgery and imaging, augmented-reality medical visualization, imaging genomics, reports of new advances in imaging modalities, and all other information related to the application of computerized radiology, oncology, and surgery. Computers & Fluids is multidisciplinary. The term 'fluid' is interpreted in the broadest sense. Hydro- and aerodynamics, high-speed and physical gas dynamics, turbulence and flow stability, multiphase flow, rheology, tribology and fluid-structure interaction are all of interest, provided that computer technique plays a significant role in the associated studies or design methodology.Applications will be found in most branches of engineering and science: mechanical, civil, chemical, aeronautical, medical, geophysical, nuclear and oceanographic. These will involve problems of air, sea and land vehicle motion and flow physics, energy conversion and power, chemical reactors and transport processes, ocean and atmospheric effects and pollution, biomedicine, noise and acoustics, and magnetohydrodynamics amongst others.The development of numerical methods relevant to fluid flow computations, computational analysis of flow physics and fluid interactions and novel applications to flow systems and to design are pertinent to Computers & Fluids.

Computers & Geosciences publishes high impact, original research at the interface between Computer Sciences and Geosciences. For instance, a mining paper only dealing with transport problems, a geotechnical paper on lab experiments, or a paper on rockbolting, would be considered unsuitable.Code and Data:Computers & Geosciences aims to publish code and supporting data from accepted manuscripts using state-of-the-art technologies. Code should be original and demonstrate a development in research. It should also have clear design and be reproducible, reusable, extensible and maintainable. The journal uses the github.com platform (search for: CAGEO) which allows the community to publish, maintain, update and comment on published code and data.Paper Types:Original research article (5,000 words): Providing a novel and original contribution to the scientific fields of study outlined above.Application article (5,000 words): Describing a real-world case study on the scientific fields of study outlined above.Scientific review article (10,000 words): Critically describing the state-of-the art of applications of computer science in the geosciences, as a stand-alone contribution or to frame a special issue. Criteria for assessment shall be: completeness, depth, novelty, timeliness, quality, and interest to the Journal's readership. Review outlines should be pre-approved by an Associate Editor, or Editorial Board Member of the Journal.Book and software reviews (1500 words): Describing and evaluating a new or significant publication or piece of software relevant to aspects of computation or informatics in the geosciences.Letter to the Editor: Commenting on published articles. Criteria for assessment shall be the merit of the question or comment raised. The author(s) of the commented-on article shall be offered the opportunity to prepare a reply, to be published alongside the comment.

The role of computer orientated techniques in analysis and design of geotechnical structures has been firmly established in recent years. New techniques are being rapidly developed and applied in the fields of offshore, nuclear, dam, mining and transportation engineering. Using these techniques it is now possible to check the validity of various empirical rules that have become prevalent in geotechnical engineering practice.Computers and Geotechnics provides an up-to-date reference to the engineers and researchers engaged in computer aided analysis, design and research in geotechnical engineering. The journal is intended for an expeditious dissemination of new developments in the broad areas of soil and rock mechanics. Static, cyclic and transient loading situations are relevant. Contributions on constitutive models of geomaterials (soils, rocks, concrete, masonry, ceramics, etc.), computer analyses of physical models and adequately monitored prototype structures and application of computer techniques to design are especially welcome. Operations research and computers meet in a large number of scientific fields, many of which are of vital current concern to our troubled society. These include, among others, ecology, transportation, safety, reliability, urban planning, economics, inventory control, investment strategy and logistics (including reverse logistics). Computers & Operations Research provides an international forum for the application of computers and operations research techniques to problems in these and related fields.The common element in all these scientific areas which this Journal addresses is the methodology for determining viable solutions to problems, using computers and the techniques of operations research. However, it is not only the mathematical methodology which is of interest: the applications are of equal importance. The two are mutually supportive, since understanding the application helps one greatly to comprehend the mathematical methods used, and vice versa.This Journal will therefore concern itself with these scientific fields of application, and will be accordingly broad in scope of subject matter. The form, content and language of the articles will take cognizance of this breadth of applications and of the consequent fact that many readers may not be expert in the particular scientific field to which the computer and operations research techniques are applied by the author. All full-length research papers must contain original research results, and demonstrate constructive algorithmic complexity and extensive numerical experiments. Numerical illustrations (examples) are not sufficient: the numerical experiments must have a scientific value of their own, particularly with comparisons to other approaches. In addition, the research performed should represent novel and significant work relative to the relevant literature. It is the responsibility of the authors to ensure that the submitted manuscripts are written using proper English, that possible grammatical or spelling errors are eliminated and that the text conforms to correct scientific English. Submissions which do not satisfythese criteria may be rejected without being sent to reviewers.Other paper types include:Case Studies:This Journal will also publish articles containing interesting real applications, even though there may be no new techniques involved. These should be labeled as case studies. It is important that they be actual cases of interest and significance which the authors were asked to analyze. In addition, the focus on algorithmic results should be emphasized.Review Papers and Tutorials (by invitation only):The content and presentation of this international Journal is such as to provide maximum utility to researchers, teachers and practitioners who have an interest in operations research, computers and the subject matter of the fields of application served by these. Tutorial and state-of-the-art papers will be presented from time to time, as deemed suitable. Emphasis will be given to those science areas of public importance, in which significant advances are being made by means of computers and operations research.Focused Issue Papers:Computers & Operations Research also publishes focused issues on topics of interest related to its editorial mission. Such issues typically contain between six and twelve articles. They are put together within an eighteen month period under the responsibility of one or several guest editors.
