Palaeobiodiversity and Palaeoenvironments is a peer-reviewed international journal for the publication of high-quality multidisciplinary studies in the fields of palaeobiodiversity, palaeoenvironments and palaeobiogeography. Key criteria for the acceptance of manuscripts are a global scope or implications of problems on a global scale significant not only for a single discipline, a focus on the diversity of fossil organisms and the causes and processes of change in Earth’s history. The topics covered include: Systematic studies of all fossil animal / plant groups with a special focus on palaeoenvironmental investigations, palaeoecosystems and climate changes in Earth’s history, environment-organism interaction, comparison of modern and ancient sedimentary environments, palaeoecology and palaeobiogeography.

Palaeontographica: Abteilung A

ISSN: 0375-0442eISSN: 2509-8373

Palaeontographica publishes peer reviewed contributions to paleozoology and paleobotany. Founded in 1846, it is one of the oldest scholarly journals in paleobiology. Its editors include a large number of landmark paleontologists (see history). Its claim to fame were and still arelarge format, high quality plates and careful descriptions and interpretations of source materials of paleontological research. From 1846 to 1933 paleozoological and paleobotanical papers were published side by side journal. In 1933, the paleobotanical papers were branched off into a separate journal, Palaeontographica Abt. B. The title of the paleozoology part of Paleontographica was correspondingly renamed to Palaeontographica Abt. A (Paleozoology) at the same time.

PaleoAmerica

ISSN: 2055-5563eISSN: 2055-5571

PaleoAmerica disseminates new research results and ideas about early human dispersal and migrations, with a particular focus on the Americas. It fosters an interdisciplinary dialog between archaeologists, geneticists and other scientists investigating the dispersal of modern humans during the late Pleistocene.

The journal has three goals: First and foremost, the journal is a vehicle for the presentation of new research results. Second, it includes editorials on special topics written by leaders in the field. Third, the journal solicits essays covering current debates in the field, the state of research in relevant disciplines, and summaries of new research findings in a particular region, for example Beringia, the Eastern Seaboard or the Southern Cone of South America. Although the journal’s focus is the peopling of the Americas, editorials and research essays also highlight the investigation of early human colonization of empty lands in other areas of the world. As techniques are developing so rapidly, work in other regions can be very relevant to the Americas, so the journal will publish research relating to other regions which has relevance to research on the Americas.

Paleoceanography

ISSN: 0883-8305eISSN: 1944-9186

Paleoceanography focuses on original contributions dealing with reconstructions of past conditions and processes of change as recorded in sediments deposited in water. This especially includes marine sediments, but may extend to sediments from freshwater environments. Approaches to past reconstruction might include sedimentology, geochemistry, paleontology, oceanography, geophysics, and modeling. Contributions will emphasize global and regional aspects, rather than purely local interests, and can cover all ages (Precambrian to the Quaternary, including modern analogs).

Palynology

ISSN: 0191-6122eISSN: 1558-9188

Palynology is an international journal, and covers all aspects of the science. We accept papers on both pre-Quaternary and Quaternary palynology and palaeobotany. Contributions on novel uses of palynology, review articles, book reviews, taxonomic studies and papers on methodology are all actively encouraged. The AASP Newsletter is available at http://www.palynology.org/pub.html#nl The image used in the cover of Palynology was obtained using the following process: 1. Fresh pollen from anthers were processed using acetolysis 2. infiltrated with 2,2'-thiodiethanol (TDE), a mounting medium for high-resolution microscopy 3. A 3-D image stack was acquired using an Olympus FV1000 laser scanning confocal microscope with a 100x/1.4 oil immersion objective (Excitation 488 nm, emission 500-600nm) 4. Imported the entire confocal stack into Osiri X 3D medical imaging software running on an iMac with 4GB of RAM. 5. Selected every fifth slice in the stack for rendering, in order to fit the stacks into the 4GB memory limit addressable by a 32-bit operating system 6. Perform 3D rendering using a color map optimized for bones and soft tissue 7. Adjusted the color map and transparency, in order to show both the exterior surface textures and the interior wall structures Work for this image was performed by Vaughn M. Bryant, Stanislav Vitha, and Amen Zwa Disclaimer The Palynological Society and Taylor & Francis make every effort to ensure the accuracy of all the information (the 'Content') contained in its publications. Permafrost and Periglacial Processes is an international journal dedicated to the rapid publication of scientific and technical papers concerned with earth surface cryogenic processes, landforms and sediments present in a variety of (Sub) Arctic, Antarctic and High Mountain environments. It provides an efficient vehicle of communication amongst those with an interest in the cold, non-glacial geosciences. The focus is on (1) original research based on geomorphological, hydrological, sedimentological, geotechnical and engineering aspects of these areas and (2) original research carried out upon relict features where the objective has been to reconstruct the nature of the processes and/or palaeoenvironments which gave rise to these features, as opposed to purely stratigraphical considerations. The journal also publishes short communications, reviews, discussions and book reviews. The high scientific standard, interdisciplinary character and worldwide representation of PPP are maintained by regional editorial support and a rigorous refereeing system.
