Founded in 1981 (as the International Journal of Mine Water), Mine Water and the Environment presents original contributions addressing technical questions and practical issues related to the evaluation, prediction, prevention, or control of water problems at mining operations or their impact on the environment. Both the journal and its audience are interdisciplinary. Published papers convey new technical information by and for researchers and practitioners in this field. Coverage includes laboratory and field experiments, modeling efforts, studies of relevant field sites, technical evaluations of new technology, and engineering applications. Mine Water and the Environment is the journal of the International Mine Water Association (IMWA).
Natural Hazards is devoted to original research work on all aspects of natural hazards, including the forecasting of catastrophic events, risk management, and the nature of precursors of natural and technological hazards.
Although hazards can originate in different sources and systems, such as atmospheric, hydrologic, oceanographic, volcanologic, seismic, neotectonic, the environmental impacts are equally catastrophic. This warrants a close interaction between different scientific and operational disciplines, aimed at enhancing the mitigation of hazards.
Coverage includes such categories of hazard as atmospheric, climatological, oceanographic, storm surges, tsunamis, floods, snow, avalanches, landslides, erosion, earthquakes, volcanoes, man-made and technological, as well as risk assessment.
Aims: The diversity of aquatic life in the southern continents and oceans is of worldwide interest to researchers and resource managers in research institutions, museums, and other centres. The New Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research plays an important role in disseminating information on field-based, experimental, and theoretical research on the marine, estuarine, and freshwater biology of the region. Scope of submissions: The New Zealand Journal of Marine and Freshwater Research publishes original research papers, review papers, short communications, book reviews, letters, and forum articles. We welcome submissions on all aspects of aquatic science (including fisheries), with particular emphasis on Australasia, South America, Antarctica, and the Pacific. River Research and Applications , previously published as Regulated Rivers: Research and Management (1987-2001), is an international journal dedicated to the promotion of basic and applied scientific research on rivers. The journal publishes original scientific and technical papers on biological, ecological, geomorphological, hydrological, engineering and geographical aspects related to rivers in both the developed and developing world. Papers showing how basic studies and new science can be of use in applied problems associated with river management, regulation and restoration are encouraged as is interdisciplinary research concerned directly or indirectly with river management problems. The journal also publishes concept papers (see ARENA Section) short communications, regional and thematic review articles, and book reviews. Special thematic issues are an important feature. San Francisco Estuary and Watershed Science is established to provide the opportunity for on-line publication of peer-reviewed papers dealing with all aspects of the San Francisco Estuary, Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, its upstream watersheds, and adjacent coastal ocean. Also appropriate are papers focused on other estuary watershed systems whose findings and conclusions are directly relevant to the issues of the San Francisco Estuary. Subjects considered appropriate for publication include any aspect of the physics, chemistry, geology, or biology of this large system. Particular emphasis will be placed on papers that bridge the individual technical disciplines and provide novel or informative insights into attributes and functioning of this system or similar systems elsewhere.Manuscripts may be submitted in any one of the following categories:*Editorials – Articles presenting the views of the Editors or Associate Editors.
