In our Annual Review you will find a detailed breakdown of our work around the world, including inspirational stories about some of the people and communities we have been able to help. Our Annual Accounts offer further insight into how we have been able to fund such a successful programme of work – largely down to the incredible generosity of our supporters and partners. Please email us for a hardcopy of our accounts or review document.Thank you to everyone who has made 2009 memorable for so many people affected by diseases of poverty.
Malaria Journal is aimed at the scientific community interested in malaria in its broadest sense. It is the only journal that publishes exclusively articles on malaria and, as such, it aims to bring together knowledge from the different specialities involved in this very broad discipline, from the bench to the bedside and to the field. Malaria Journal offers a fast publication schedule while maintaining rigorous peer-review; this is achieved by managing the whole of the publication process electronically, from submission to peer-review.
As an official publication of the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM), Medical Mycology, is an international journal, which focuses on original and innovative studies of all aspects of medical, veterinary and environmental mycology. The topics include, but are not limited to, mycological, biochemical and molecular investigations of etiological agents of mycoses; aspects of pathogenesis, immunology, and epidemiology of mycoses; laboratory approaches to the identification of fungal pathogens; antifungal susceptibility, therapy and prophylaxis; mode of antifungal action; pharmacokinetics and assessments of new antifungal agents; and investigations of the mycological aspects of the indoor environment, with a focus on human and animal health. The aim of the journal is to present the preeminent scientific reports on these aspects of mycology to provide a comprehensive reference base for medical mycologists, microbiologists, clinicians, and environmental specialists.Read More: http://informahealthcare.com/page/mmy/Description.
Medical Mycology Case Reports is an online journal devoted to the publication of case reports that concern unusual medical or veterinary fungal infections. The journal aims to provide a valuable collection of fungal cases with clinically important information to healthcare professionals, researchers and others, and is specifically interested in cases that have educational value.Journal Highlights:Open Access: freely available on ScienceDirectPeer reviewedRapid publication: submission to publication within 15 daysQuality & Reputation: supported by the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM)To ensure that case reports are published in an easy to read format, and to facilitate a fast and efficient review process, we require all authors to submit their case report using a Template, which can be downloaded here or on the submission website http://www.ees.elsevier.com/mmcr.
Microbes and Infection publishes 12 peer-reviewed issues per year in all fields of infection and immunity, covering the different levels of host-microbe interactions, and in particular:the molecular biology and cell biology of the crosstalk between hosts (human and experimental animals) and microbes (viruses, bacteria, parasites and fungi), including molecular virulence and evasion mechanisms.the immune response to infection, including pathogenesis and host susceptibility.emerging human infectious diseases.molecular epidemiology/genetics of host pathogen interactions.vaccine development, including novel strategies and adjuvants.Clinical studies, accounts of clinical trials and biomarker studies in infectious diseases are within the scope of the journal.Microbes and Infection publishes articles on human pathogens or pathogens of model systems. However, articles on other microbes can be published if they contribute to our understanding of basic mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions. Purely descriptive and preliminary studies are discouraged.Reviews on recent progress in the field are commissioned by editors.Special issues focus on the present knowledge of a virulent microbe and the disease it causes, the immune response in infectious disease, or on critical issues relevant to the scope of the journal. The journal is just entering its 16th year of publication, and Essential Science IndicatorsSM (ESI) states that "Microbes and Infection has had a significant impact in the field of Immunology." If you are interested in knowing more about the journal's contributions to immunology, you may wish to read the interview with S.H.E. The powerful emergence and global spread of antibiotic resistant microbial pathogens and resistance genes in the 1990s presents challenges to a wide range of disciplines - from the molecular biology of resistance mechanisms, virulence genes, and disease through molecular epidemiology all the way to drug design, infection control, and medical practice. This international journal provides a multidisciplinary forum for peer-reviewed original publications as well as topical reviews and special reports.
Microbial Pathogenesis publishes original contributions and reviews about the molecular and cellular mechanisms of infectious diseases. It covers microbiology, host-pathogen interaction and immunology related to infectious agents, including bacteria, fungi, viruses and protozoa. It also accepts papers in the field of clinical microbiology, with the exception of case reports.Research Areas Include:PathogenesisVirulence factorsHost susceptibility or resistanceImmune mechanismsIdentification, cloning and sequencing of relevant genesGenetic studiesViruses, prokaryotic organisms and protozoaMicrobiotaSystems biology related to infectious diseasesTargets for vaccine design (pre-clinical studies)The journal aims for rapid publication of articles of high quality and significance in an international forum. Please note that reviews are only accepted upon editorial invitation.
The journal Microbial Risk Analysis accepts articles dealing with the study of risk analysis applied to microbial hazards. Manuscripts should at least cover any of the components of risk assessment (risk characterization, exposure assessment, etc.), risk management and/or risk communication in any microbiology field (clinical, environmental, food, veterinary, etc.). This journal also accepts article dealing with predictive microbiology, quantitative microbial ecology, mathematical modeling, risk studies applied to microbial ecology, quantitative microbiology for epidemiological studies, statistical methods applied to microbiology, and laws and regulatory policies aimed at lessening the risk of microbial hazards. Work focusing on risk studies of viruses, parasites, microbial toxins, antimicrobial resistant organisms, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and recombinant DNA products are also acceptable.
Microbiology Spectrum® (Spectrum) is an online-only, fully open-access journal that publishes research from all domains of basic, applied, and clinical microbial sciences. Rather than making subjective evaluations of potential impact, Microbiology Spectrum publishes research studies that are of high technical quality and are useful to the community. All decisions are made by an international and diverse editorial board that fully represents the microbiology research community. The journal provides authors with fair, rapid, and rigorous peer review. The journal offers rapid publication and wide dissemination of excellent research at no cost to readers.
Microbiology and Molecular Biology Reviews® explores the significance and the interrelationships of the latest discoveries that build our understanding of bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungi, and other higher eukaryotes. Review articles enable both nonspecialists and specialists to understand the state of the science and apply the latest findings to advance their own research.
