The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (AJCN) is the most highly rated peer-reviewed journal in ISI's nutrition and dietetics category and publishes the latest worldwide basic and clinical studies relevant to human nutrition in topics such as obesity, vitamins and minerals, nutrition and disease, and energy metabolism. The AJCN was selected by the Special Libraries Association (SLA) as one of the top 100 most influential journals in Biology and Medicine over the last 100 years. Periodically, supplements to the AJCN are published, and these contain proceedings from internationally recognized conferences on clinical nutrition. The Journal of Nutrition is published monthly and is an official publication of ASN. Contents include peer-reviewed research papers covering all aspects of experimental nutrition; special articles such as critical reviews and biographies of prominent nutrition scientists; and commentaries on controversial issues in nutrition. Supplements are frequently published to provide extended discussion of topics of special interest.
There is increasing scientific and clinical interest in the interactions of nutrition and health as part of the aging process. This interest is due to the important role that nutrition plays throughout the life span. This role affects the growth and development of the body during childhood, affects the risk of acute and chronic diseases, the maintenance of physiological processes and the biological process of aging. A major aim of 'The Journal of Nutrition, Health & Aging' is to contribute to the improvement of knowledge regarding the relationships between nutrition and the aging process from birth to old age.
