Acoustical Physics (Akusticheskii zhurnal), founded in 1955, is the only Russian academic journal in the field of acoustics. The journal publishes scientific reviews, original papers, short communications, letters to the editor, and current events. It covers theoretical and experimental aspects of basic and applied acoustics. This journal presents results of research conducted at the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and at universities and research establishments in Russia and abroad.

Since its launch in 1968, Applied Acoustics has been publishing high quality research papers providing state-of-the-art coverage of research findings for engineers and scientists involved in applications of acoustics in the widest sense.Applied Acoustics looks not only at recent developments in the understanding of acoustics but also at ways of exploiting that understanding. The Journal aims to encourage the exchange of practical experience through publication and in so doing creates a fund of technological information that can be used for solving related problems. The presentation of information in graphical or tabular form is especially encouraged. If a report of a mathematical development is a necessary part of a paper it is important to ensure that it is there only as an integral part of a practical solution to a problem and is supported by data. IEEE Transactions on Ultrasonics, Ferroelectrics and Frequency Control  includes the theory, technology, materials, and applications relating to: (1) the generation, transmission, and detection of ultrasonic waves and related phenomena; (2) medical ultrasound, including hyperthermia, bioeffects, tissue characterization and imaging; (3) ferroelectric, piezoelectric, and piezomagnetic materials, including crystals, polycrystalline solids, films, polymers, and composites; (4) frequency control, timing and time distribution, including crystal oscillators and other means of classical frequency control, and atomic, molecular and laser frequency control standards. Areas of interest range from fundamental studies to the design and/or applications of devices and systems. 

The IEEE/ACM Transactions on Audio, Speech, and Language Processing covers audio, speech and language processing and the sciences that support them. In audio processing: transducers, room acoustics, active sound control, human audition, analysis/synthesis/coding of music, and consumer audio. In speech processing: areas such as speech analysis, synthesis, coding, speech and speaker recognition, speech production and perception, and speech enhancement. In language processing: speech and text analysis, understanding, generation, dialog management, translation, summarization, question answering and document indexing and retrieval, as well as general language modeling.

Aeroacoustics is a growing area and has received fresh emphasis due to advances in air, ground and space transportation. Significant advances in aeroacoustics are required for reducing community and cabin noise from subsonic aircraft and to prepare for the possible large scale entry of supersonic aircraft into civil aviation. The use of high thrust producing engines on military aircraft has raised numerous concerns about exposure of aircraft carrier personnel and sonic fatigue failure of aircraft structures. In the ground transportation arena efforts are currently under way to minimize the aerodynamic noise from automobiles and high speed trains. Finally, space launch vehicle noise if uncontrolled can cause serious structural damage to the spacecraft and payload. In addition, with the proliferation of space flight, launch vehicle noise can also become a significant environmental issue. It has become increasingly important to address all of the above noise issues in order to minimize the noise impact of advances in transportation. New research needs to be conducted and effectively communicated, in order to meet higher levels of noise certification and to pre-empt further regulatory burdens.

The aim of this journal is to provide an international forum for the dissemination of the state-of-the-art information in the field of Computational Acoustics.Topics covered by this journal include research and tutorial contributions in OCEAN ACOUSTICS (a subject of active research in relation with sonar detection and the design of noiseless ships), SEISMO-ACOUSTICS (of concern to earthquake science and engineering, and also to those doing underground prospection like searching for petroleum), AEROACOUSTICS (which includes the analysis of noise created by aircraft), COMPUTATIONAL METHODS, and SUPERCOMPUTING. In addition to the traditional issues and problems in computational methods, the journal also considers theoretical research acoustics papers which lead to large-scale scientific computations.The journal strives to be flexible in the type of high quality papers it publishes and their format. Equally desirable are*Full papers, which should be complete and relatively self-contained original contributions with an introduction that can be understood by the broad computational acoustics community. Both rigorous and heuristic styles are acceptable. Of particular interest are papers about new areas of research in which other than strictly computational arguments may be important in establishing a basis for further developments.*Tutorial review papers, covering some of the important issues in Computational Mathematical Methods, Scientific Computing, and their applications.*Short notes, which present specific new results and techniques in a brief communication. The journal will occasionally publish significant contributions which are larger than the usual format for regular papers. Special issues which report results of high quality workshops in related areas and monographs of significant contributions in the Series of Computational Acoustics will also be published.
