Gesture publishes articles reporting original research, as well as survey and review articles, on all aspects of gesture. The journal aims to stimulate and facilitate scholarly communication between the different disciplines within which work on gesture is conducted. For this reason papers written in the spirit of cooperation between disciplines are especially encouraged. Topics may include, but are by no means limited to: the relationship between gesture and speech; the role gesture may play in communication in all the circumstances of social interaction, including conversations, the work-place or instructional settings; gesture and cognition; the development of gesture in children; the place of gesture in first and second language acquisition; the processes by which spontaneously created gestures may become transformed into codified forms; the documentation and discussion of vocabularies of ’quotable’ or ’emblematic’ gestures; the relationship between gesture and sign; studies of gesture systems or sign languages such as those that have developed in factories, religious communities or in tribal societies; the role of gesture in ritual interactions of all kinds, such as greetings, religious, civic or legal rituals; gestures compared cross-culturally; gestures in primate social interaction; biological studies of gesture, including discussions of the place of gesture in language origins theory; gesture in multimodal human-machine interaction; historical studies of gesture; and studies in the history of gesture studies, including discussions of gesture in the theatre or as a part of rhetoric. Gesture provides a platform where contributions to this topic may be found from such disciplines as linguistics, archaeology, anthropology, biology, communication studies, neurology, ethology, theatre studies, literature and the visual arts, cognitive psychology and computer engineering. .

Human Movement Science provides a forum for presenting, and bringing together, psychological, neurophysiological and biomechanical/biophysical research on human movement. Animal studies, insofar as their significance to human movement is made clear, are equally acceptable. The nature of the research to be reported may vary from fundamental studies of motor control and learning, including the perceptual support of movement, to more applied studies in the fields of, for example, sport, dance and rehabilitation, with the proviso that also the latter studies have a distinct theoretical bearing.Human Movement Science contains: (a) reports of empirical work on human movement; (b) theoretical (overview) articles on human movement, including its modelling; (c) letters to the editor containing a critical commentary on a published paper. In addition to regular issues, special issues addressing a single theme will be published. The scope of coverage encompasses basic research on cognitive clinical processes, innovative assessment and treatment technologies, expert perspectives on specific clinical problems and populations, and critical issues in translating research to practice. Recent thematic issues have included Hoarding, Stress Generation, Cognitive Processes in Anxiety, Cognition in Bipolar Disorders, Disgust and Psychopathology, and Compassion Focused Therapy.

Journal of Adult Development, is a forum for publication of peer-reviewed, original theoretical and empirical articles on biological, psychological (cognitive, affective, valuative, behavioral), and sociocultural development in young, middle, and late adulthood. Coverage spans developments in both basic and applied research as well as quantitative and qualitative approaches to inquiry. The range of topics includes the acquisition of moral ideas and principles; the development and character of the ego; the changing nature of human relationships across the life span; relationship between the ethical atmosphere of higher education institutions and the development of adults within them; ways in which clinical interventions and adult developmental characteristics promote development in a variety of settings. Journal of Adult Development is published in collaboration with the Society for Research in Adult Development.

The Journal of Applied Research in Memory and Cognition (JARMAC) publishes an engaging mix of the latest theoretically motivated research: empirical studies, review articles, and target papers with invited peer commentary. The goal of this unique journal is to reach not only psychological scientists working in this field and allied areas but also professionals and practitioners who seek to understand, apply, and benefit from research on memory and cognition. Therefore, each empirical article must include a section clearly describing the practical applications of the research.We encourage brevity and crisp, lively prose that appeals to a wide audience. Empirical studies should normally not exceed 4,000 words. We prefer multiple-experiment studies, but will consider single-experiment submissions. JARMAC also features longer target articles that articulate particular perspectives on applied issues related to memory and cognition. The Journal welcomes contributions to the understanding and treatment of psychopathology. Such contributions may stem from various theoretical perspectives, such as learning theory, cognitive science, social psychology, developmental psychology, etc. The Journal primarily focuses on experimental tests of psychological approaches to psychopathology, though contributions from medicine, biology, sociology, or epidemiology may be published. The same holds for non-experimental approaches, which may occasionally be published if deemed relevant for the field of experimental psychopathology. Papers to be published generally focus on:•Theoretically or clinically relevant differences between specific patient groups and other groups, if experimentally tested;•Mechanisms that cause, perpetuate or reduce disorders;•Diagnostic or therapeutic proceduresParticipants in the studies may be patients, healthy subjects, or animals, depending on the relevance of the subject characteristics for the question to be answered.Clinical trials (RCTs and others) should be registered in an official trial register and the registration number should be reported. These studies should include a flow diagram according to the most recent CONSORT guidelines and a CONSORT checklist should accompany the submission. See http://www.consort-statement.org for the guidelines and forms.Studies testing hypotheses on characteristics of a disorder should not only include a non-patient control group, but also an appropriate clinical control group, to assess the specificity of the effect. We cannot guarantee acceptance of studies missing an appropriate clinical control group.Case studies, open trials, and pilot studies may be considered for publication in the Journal if they are unusually innovative.Consecutive case series with appropriate designs (i.e., contrasting at least two conditions; e.g. multiple baseline design) and appropriate statistical analyses are considered for publication.Replications are essential in science and are, to the present editor's opinion, often undervalued. Short reports of attempts to replicate experimental studies, whether successful, or failed, and whether applied or fundamental, are considered for publication, if appropriately powered. The maximum number of words is 2500 for these reports.All submissions will first be screened on the degree to which they match the Aims and Scope of the Journal.

In The Journal of Behavioral Finance leaders in many fields are brought together to address the implications of current work on individual and group emotion, cognition, and action for the behavior of markets. They include specialists in personality, social, and clinical psychology; psychiatry; organizational behavior; accounting; marketing; sociology; anthropology; behavioral economics; finance; and the multidisciplinary study of judgment and decision making. The journal will foster debate among groups who have keen insights into the behavioral patterns of markets but have not historically published in the more traditional financial and economic journals. Further, it will stimulate new interdisciplinary research and theory that will build a body of knowledge about the psychological influences on market fluctuations. The Journal of Cognition and Culture provides an interdisciplinary forum for exploring the mental foundations of culture and the cultural foundations of mental life. The primary focus of the journal is on explanations of cultural phenomena in terms of acquisition, representation and transmission involving cognitive capacities without excluding the study of cultural differences. The journal contains articles, commentaries, reports of experiments, and book reviews that emerge out of the inquiries by, and conversations between, scholars in experimental psychology, developmental psychology, social cognition, neuroscience, human evolution, cognitive science of religion, and cognitive anthropology.

The Journal of Cognition and Development is the official journal of the Cognitive Development Society (CDS). Some CDS members are concerned with basic research or theory; others focus on policy issues and practical applications. The range of interests includes cognitive development during all stages of life, and we seek to understand ontogenetic processes in both humans and nonhumans. Finally, their interests encompass typical as well as atypical development, and we attempt to characterize both biological and cultural influences on cognitive change and continuity.
