Acoustical Physics (Akusticheskii zhurnal), founded in 1955, is the only Russian academic journal in the field of acoustics. The journal publishes scientific reviews, original papers, short communications, letters to the editor, and current events. It covers theoretical and experimental aspects of basic and applied acoustics. This journal presents results of research conducted at the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and at universities and research establishments in Russia and abroad.

Applied Biochemistry and Microbiology (Prikladnaya biokhimiya i mikrobiologiya) publishes original articles in biochemistry and microbiology of present or potential practical applications. The scope of the journal includes studies of enzymes; mechanisms of enzymatic reactions; biosynthesis and biogenesis of physiologically active compounds and the pathways of their regulation; biocatalysis in organic synthesis; and metabolic engineering. In addition to experimental studies the journal publishes invited reviews.

Astronomy Letters (Pis’ma v Astronomicheskii Zhurnal) traditionally publishes the results of original research in all branches of modern astronomy and astrophysics including high energy astrophysics, cosmology, space astronomy, theoretical astrophysics, radioastronomy, extra galactic astronomy, stellar astronomy, and investigation of the Solar system.

Astronomy Reports (Astronomicheskii Zhurnal), founded in 1924, is the most prominent astronomy journal in the former Soviet Union. It is also widely known and cited abroad. The journal publishes original papers on astronomical topics, including theoretical and observational astrophysics, physics of the Sun, planetary astrophysics, radioastronomy, stellar astronomy, celestial mechanics, and astronomy methods and instrumentation. Astrophysical Bulletin presents original and review papers in various fields of modern astrophysics. The monthly journal Biochemistry (Moscow) is the international English edition of the Russian scientific research journal Biokhimiya. Biokhimiya was founded by the Russian Academy of Sciences (formerly Academy of Sciences of the USSR) and the Russian Biochemical Society in 1936. Since 1956 Biokhimiya has been followed by its English translation. The Russian and English editions are now issued simultaneously. Biology Bulletin (Izvestiya Rossiiskoi Akademii Nauk – Seriya Biologicheskaya) is an interdisciplinary journal of general biology. It focuses on fundamental studies in the fields of cell biology, biochemistry, zoology, botany, physiology, and ecology. This journal publishes current materials of experimental studies and surveys on current problems in general biology. It also publishes information on scientific conferences and new books in the fields of general biology. The Editorial Board welcomes contributions from foreign authors.

The journal publishes papers on vast aspects of cell research, including morphology, biochemistry, biophysics, genetics, molecular biology, immunology. The journal accepts original experimental studies, theoretical articles suggesting novel principles and approaches, presentations of new hypotheses, reviews highlighting major developments in cell biology, discussions. The main objective of the journal is to provide a competent representation and integration of research made on cells (animal and plant cells, both in vivo and in cell culture) offering insight into the structure and functions of live cells as a whole. Characteristically, the journal publishes articles on biology of free-living and parasitic protists, which, unlike Metazoa, are eukaryotic organisms at the cellular level of organization.

The journal is a translation of Sibirskiy Ekologicheskiy Zhurnal (Siberian Journal of Ecology), which was launched in 1994. It is a multidisciplinary periodical which publishes original work on the following subjects: theoretical and methodological issues of ecology, regional aspects of ecology, regional environmental disasters, structure and functioning of ecosystems, and anthropogenic transformation of ecosystems. The journal differs from others in that it covers a wide range of ecological problems. Crystallography Reports (Kristallografiya), founded in 1956, publishes original papers, short communications, and reviews on different aspects of crystallography: diffraction and scattering of X-rays, electrons, and neutrons; X-ray, electron, and neutron diffraction determination of crystal structure of inorganic and organic materials, including proteins and other biological objects; optical and radiowave spectroscopy; growth, real structure and physical properties of crystals; thin films and partly disordered systems, and the methods used in these studies.

Differential Equations, a translation of Differentsial'nye Uravneniya, is exclusively devoted to differential equations and the associated integral equations. The journal publishes the finest original scientific results of Russian mathematicians and scientists from other countries of the former USSR.
